Self-publishing
Many people have a book inside them, often a lifetime interest, and a desire to have that book published. Traditional print and publishing costs can make the venture prohibitively expensive. There are alternatives to this traditional route. With a professionally designed and typeset product, the author is now free to take other options. A self-promotional role where the author knows both subject and market could eliminate a publisher’s marketing costs. Rowan Portfolio can offer you options in assessing printing options such as using the concept of printing on demand or e-books. We can take your manuscript and any illustrations, to design and format stages and liaise with printers to obtain the most economic rates, or produce the book as an electronic file for distribution along with any required hard copies. Services
Input of text, manually or electronically  Text can be keyed from traditional hand-written or typed manuscript. The latter is either manually typed or scanned and tranlated into text through an optical character recognition (OCR) application and then corrected to eliminate unrecognized characters or marks. It can also be received via email, as a word processed document or pdf.

Graphics  Photographic scanning is available together with advice on quality control and the procedures needed, where possible to bring the images up to print-ready quality. Line art graphics may be scanned or redrawn.

Editing, proofreading, design and typography  These four disciplines are the key to making a book look readable, polished and professional. All four are available within the Rowan portfolio.
